1/3 of the Way!

Note – this post should have gone out on Saturday, but internet issues held it up. More to come on Monday.

Last night at dinner, our ride leader, Dennis, aka the Bear, announced that we are 1/3 of the way across the country! Wow! We feel our legs getting stronger, and my pace is faster, but still no match for the rest of the group. The flats are piling up — Rob and I have each had 3. Dennis said, this is not a competition you want to win!

Yesterday’s morning ride was the best ever. It was slightly downhill for nearly 40 miles — smooth roads and no traffic again We did get chased by dogs a few times, but were able to outride them.

The roads we are riding on are former highways. Unfortunately, there are hundreds of abandoned buildings, presumably many went out of business when the interstates were built and the traffic no longer came by their stores. We have seen this effect all the way.

On to another 75 mile day and Monday is our next day off.
