We’re into the second week. Packing in the morning is easier, the routine is established, and, after the seat adjustments on Saturday, the riding is way better! I did get a flat tire yesterday, but our wizard bike leader had the tire off and new tube installed in literally 5 minutes. You may recall in an earlier blog how much I hoped I wouldn’t get a flat tire because it’s so hard to remove from the wheel — not so for Dennis! There is a benefit to being the slowest rider with the ride leader trailing you!
We had a little glitch with our wahoos yesterday, Dennis had updated the route, but it hadn’t refreshed on our devices, so Rob and I rode to what we thought was the lunch stop and we were in the middle of an underpass with no other cyclists around us! Fortunately, one of them sent me a pin and we were able to circle back. Never dull!
Today we leave Benson, AZ and ride to Bisbee, which is supposed to be an artsy fartsy town. We stop mid-way in Tombstone for a few shootouts. It’s an “easy” day – only 40 miles — but lots of climbing. Yesterday, the tailwinds finally made an appearance — what a difference that makes! We were riding 22 MPH at times.
On to more adventures!
Glad your butt bones are happy! You two are amazing!
And crazy!
