Our First Day Off

We arrived in Tucson yesterday afternoon. The last 22 miles was on the Tucson bike path, which was really well maintained and a nice smooth ride into the city. My first order of business was to find a place that would sell me new butt bones!! Man are they sore.

There is a bike shop in the shopping center where we are staying and I went in right away for them to take a look at what was going on — all the bumps had loosened my saddle, and my derailleur hangar was bent – they fixed it right up. Then they had me sit on the butt-o-meter and it turns out that my saddle was too narrow for my butt bones – they adjusted the width of the seat. Hopefully future rides will be more comfortable, or at least there will be less discomfort. I’ll return one last time this morning to measure seat height and torso to handlebar length too.

Today is a free day, so we’re recharging everything, and spending time in the hot tub! Later I’m connecting with a high school classmate who happens to live here, while Rob will lube the bikes. Tomorrow we’re back on the road again!

  1. I hear butt bones are super affordable in Arizona. So glad you were able to get everything adjusted. Be careful on those interstates! Thinking of you and hoping you beat the heat!
